生活真是充满酸甜苦辣，近来最开心的是什么？就是我终于有了自己的导师啦，我终于找到个归宿啦！

For my dear tutor，prof. Shing, I have to work hard!

Dear Prof. Shing,

      On the suggestion of Dr TL Chan, I write to explore further the possibility to undertake graduate study under your supervision at CUHK.

       Since Dr Chan has pleaded my case for me, perhaps I need only to introduce myself briefly. I am currently a Final-Year undergraduate chemistry student in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Sun Yat-Sen (formerly Zhongshan) University and expect to obtain my first degree in the forthcoming summer. I have been one of the top students in my class for the past three years. It was my good fortune that I had Dr Chan as my teacher for my foundation course in organic chemistry. He opened my eyes to the beauty of organic chemistry and inspired me to pursue a career in it. It is therefore my intention to take up graduate study in this yield. I have prepared myself by reading through three introductory organic chemistry texts: one by McMurry, one by Jones and one by Bruice. Dr Chan has also prescribed a list of Oxford Primers in organic chemistry for reading. In this regard, I feel I have a fair understanding of the basic principles of organic chemistry to allow me to carry on further in its study. I have also participated in undergraduate research in organic synthesis in the laboratories of professors Zhong Zeng Pei and Song Hua Can.

     I shall be in Hong Kong for a week starting from noon 24 January 2007. I would be very grateful if I could have an appointment to see you. Any time that is convenient to you during the above period will be fine with me. Please let me know what will be the best time for you to receive me. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Dear Mr. Chen,
Many thanks for your e-mail and for your interest in joining my group. 
As you have been highly recommended by Dr. TL Chan, I would be pleased to take you on as a graduate student.
Regarding this, I would like to meet with you on the 26th of January 2007, say about 3 pm in the afternoon.  I shall test your knowledge in organic chemistry and tell you about the research project that you will be working on. My office is in room 242 Science Centre, North Block.
Apart from chemistry, you also need to improve on your English Proficiency as you will postdoc in the USA (as most of my Ph.D. students do) after obtaining your Ph.D. degree.

又到冬天，天气转凉。清凉的北风又吹起我的回忆，去年的这个时候，前年的这个时候，大前年的这个时候，一直到过去每一年的这个时候，不知道是什么感受，又有很多感受，归纳起来又好像什么都不是。秋冬好像意味着开始，之后到下一年春夏又想结束。

冬天特别好，让人感受到什么是温暖，夏天则过于闷热，令人透不过气来，冬天跑步都特别起劲，有什么不开心就可以抱着棉被，感受着这份温暖入睡，而且睡得特别香。当迎着风感受这份沧桑和凄凉时，就真的十分感激师兄帮我做的这个决定。陈老师迟迟没来，我的心开始有点虚了，现在只有等，相信很快就会到岸。

开始做毕业论文，冬天开始，春夏结束！
